Coaching for Storytellers

I first started my blog because I loved reading books and playing games with cool magic systems. As I posted more content, my goals quickly changed.

Now I help storytellers craft and repair the extraordinary elements of their stories. I don’t care if it’s advanced technology, monstrous biology, or a more traditional magic system, I want to help you build and improve these elements so they support your story as much as possible.

After all, you want people to remember your story for the force powers and flying brooms, not the midichlorians and time-turners.

I have worked with storytellers at every stage of the process. Whether you’re just starting your first extraordinary system, you’ve got stuck somewhere and don’t know what to do, or you want to take your system to that next level, I will do my very best to help you achieve your goals.

What if I’m not a novelist?

Outstanding! I’ve worked with storytellers of all kinds develop the extraordinary elements for their novels, tabletop RPGs, and even a couple interactive murder mysteries.

I’m excited that you are here looking to develop this portion of your craft. Many seem to think developing a strong magic system, interesting monsters, or wondrous technology is only a concern for traditional novelists. In reality, a powerful system can bolster any story, be it a novel, screenplay, or even a video game.

Will you build it for me?

No. This offer is for coaching, not ghostwriting.

My intent is to help you develop and hone your skills in this arena to the point you no longer need me. If you are interested in purchasing a custom-built system from me, please contact me and I can provide you with a cost estimate.

What if I can’t afford your rates?

Contact me anyway! Before I work with anyone, I like to have a 30-minute Get-to-Know-You session for no charge to see if our personalities mesh.

That’s at least $35 of one-on-one attention for free.

In this 30-minute session also gives me a chance to hear about your system, identify where you are in the development process, identify potential sticking points, and identify your next step.

I never want to deny help to anyone that needs it, so don’t let the price stop you from reaching out.
